Administrative capital of the North Province, Koné is also the starting point of the Koné-Tiwaka transversal road which connects the West and East coasts. A route of exceptional beauty, which winds through the middle of the Chain along the rivers, which offers rest and bathing areas, magnificent viewpoints, and allows friendly encounters in the few tribes that border it. Like Pouembout, Koné is an agricultural commune whose products come mainly from the many neighboring tribes.
But we also have to reckon with aquaculture farms, various administrations and above all nickel, which employs a good part of the working population. From Koné, you can plan many walks and hikes, on foot, on horseback or by car.
These activities make it possible to discover the interior of the lands and the tribes which are installed there, certain circuits even offer the possibility of bivouacking in the Chain. The tribe of Atéou, the highest in Caledonia, is in this respect quite unique. On the sea side, you can go picnicking at the beach of Foué, equipped to welcome visitors.
